Meh. Keep Your Houseboats!

Tomorrow morning everyone departs for the big Lake Shasta trip. I don't want to talk a lot of trash about it because my friends got their own boat, and I damn near went with them, but...I'm really glad I'm not going.

From what I gather, Shasta started out a Greek thing and it still mostly is, although lots of non-greeks go and some (ex: my friends) even get their own non-house affiliated boats. It's all about drinking as much keg beer as possible in one long weekend and...well, that's about it. I mean, there's an island and some activity-ish things, but it's pretty much about drinking beer. And "hoping no one drowns this year" because every few years they do.

Beer is great. I love beer. BUT I'd be missing out on a lot of stuff this weekend...most importantly, Bright Eyes and The Faint in Portland tomorrow night, plus employee double-discount day at Fred Meyer, and work, and a hell of a lot of school work.

And as much as I love my friends who are going to be gone...when I started thinking about everyone I knew who wasn't going, I started realizing, those people are cool! If I lived in a more 'liveable' house, this would be a perfect weekend to have a party with no mini-skirts, no polo shirts (especially no popped collars), no kegs, no fights...just a lot of PBR and bottled beer, and a whole lot of kick ass dancing (no hip hop, and no pop punk...).

Then Andrew pointed out that this is a fabulous weekend to go to the bars because all the "douchebags" and hos are in shasta. Dammit, he has a point there: everyone I know who is cool and not going to shasta is also 21 (except me...and except him, but he's got a fake). So....nevermind that. Everyone can have a douchebag-free weekend at the effing bars, and I'll just chill.
